You'd think that Palo Alto would make the process of converting from one platform to theirs a lot simpler. I'm finding it extraordinarily difficult to even find instructions to set up Expedition, let alone do the conversion itself.

Expedition is really intended for use by PS or partner engineers rather than customers who are brand new to the platform.
Setup unless it's changed recently is to download then import into VMware Player/Workstation. It can be deployed into vSphere as well, but requires a couple extra steps.
