I'm receiving a VM-100 license for lab/nfr use. If I'm lucky I'll also add a Panorama VM.
I'd like tips re. running on ESXi workable hardware (doesn't necessarily need to be on VMware HCL) in a home office, or basement hovel setting. This is a PCNSE renewal, PCNSC study, Pandemic project.
Thanks in advance. Cheers, Peter
There's 2 8core Intel xeon E5 (1,8GHz), 6cu nic but I'm only using 4 and I have 5 600GB disks in raid 6 (I used to have 4 in raid 5, but then 2 died and my whole lab went poof)
Thanks! What processor are you using? Dual or single proc? How many physical NIC ports? I was thinking maybe used Precision workstation (quiet, easy to mod.)
If it doesn't need to run in production/optimal performance basically any semi high-end hardware (that is esxi 6.5 compatible) will do. My home lab runs on an old Dell R620 ($400), runs 2 vm-100, a panorama, a windows 19 AD and a kali pretty happily
